American Heart Month: Supporting Everyday Routines at Home
American Heart Month is a good time to look at the daily living routines around a loved one and where a little non-medical assistance may make the day easier to manage.
American Heart Month is a natural time to think about the daily living routines around someone you love. Meals, personal care, rest, appointments, and household tasks can add up, especially when one family member is carrying most of the load.
Heavenly Helpers provides non-medical home care. Our role is to assist with daily living and the routines included in the Care Plan, while medical decisions stay with your loved one’s healthcare professionals.
Take some of the daily responsibilities off
Personal care, meal and snack preparation, companionship, and light housekeeping can take time and energy. When those tasks are part of the Care Plan, a Caregiver can assist so the family is not trying to carry every part of the routine alone.
Give family caregivers room for the rest of life
Family caregivers are often balancing work, appointments, their own household, and the needs of the person they love. Respite care can create scheduled time away while a Caregiver provides the non-medical assistance and companionship included in the Care Plan.
Keep medical questions with the healthcare team
Questions about symptoms, medications, treatment, or medical monitoring belong with licensed healthcare professionals. Home care has a different role: assisting with daily living at home.
If something feels medical, call the right person
For symptoms, medication questions, or other medical concerns, contact the appropriate healthcare professional. Call 911 in an emergency. Website inquiries are for non-emergency home-care questions.
Where Heavenly Helpers fits
Depending on the Care Plan, we can assist with personal care, meals and snacks, companionship, respite, light housekeeping, and other non-medical parts of the daily routine.
